Fathers...... being more than just fathers at St. Andrew's Catholic School

| Print |

As part of child month activities which were held in October, fathers of students who attend the St. Andrew's Roman Catholic primary school took on the roles of cooks, students, teachers and caregivers at the school during the month.

The fathers who took turns at visiting the school on three occasions, cooked a sumptuous lunch for students who are a part of the school feeding program, prepared healthy snacks for the tuck shop and returned on another occasion to prepare a fire-side oildown, for the teachers and auxiliary staff of the school.

To further strengthen the bonds of friendship among the fathers, students and staff, the fathers sat in classrooms with their children, followed along with the lessons and took turns at teaching and reading short stories to the children. They also played games with the students.

In an effort to continue their drive to play a more active part in the lives of their children, they have plans to establish a fathers club at the school, with their first activity being a “Daddy in Concert” Christmas event to take place at the school on Saturday, 15th December
