Golden Jubilee Celebrations

The diocese celebrates its golden jubilee on 20 February 2006 and the Diocesan task Force headed by Mr. Alvin Clouden has been mandated by Bishop Vincent Darius to plan the activities.The jubilee year will be launched on Sunday 27 November 2005 and will run until 8 December 2006 under the theme “Building through Evangelisation”. We shall be endeavouring to build both the physical structures and the people of God.The highlight of the year will be a week of activities from Sunday 19^th February till Sunday 26^th February 2006.The week will begin with a Diocesan Assembly during which an awards ceremony will recognize persons who have contributed in various ways to the work of the Church in Grenada. ( The Task Force is finalizing plans to hold the Assembly at the pearls Airstrip)  Parishioners will be invited to nominate persons for the awards.  The Awards committee, headed by Mr. Nigel Gravesandy, will determine and circulate the criteria.Other activities for the Golden Jubilee Week include a Youth Day, Arts and Craft Exhibition, a Symposium and a fund-raising dinner.  The week will end with Mass in each parish church.Parishes are expected to plan year-long activities to commemorate the jubilee.A commemorative magazine will be published and sold, featuring the work of the various religious orders that have worked in Grenada. Parishioners will also be invited to take out a spot in the magazine to recognize the contribution of members of their family through photographs and narrative.

We also hope to produce a documented history of the diocese.  Fr. Sean Doggett heads the Church History Committee and he hopes that parishioners will come forward with anecdotes and historical data that now only exist in oral form.
