Golden Jubilee - Week of Activities Theme: Rebuilding through Evangelisation The Catholic Diocese of St. George’s-in-Grenada was born on the 20 th February 1956 when administratively it was separated from the Archdiocese of Port of Spain and its own bishop was appointed in the person of Bishop Justin Fields. Since then the diocese has been led by Bishop Patrick Webster, Bishop Emeritus Sidney Charles and currently by Bishop Vincent Darius, the first born Grenadian Bishop. The Jubilee Year was launched on November 27, 2005 and will run until December 08, 2006 , the feast of the Immaculate Conception, the patronal feast of the diocese. The 50 th anniversary is seen as an occasion to look back with thanks and gratitude for God’s blessings and to look forward with renewed enthusiasm, hope, confidence and commitment. It is also an occasion to recognize individuals and organizations who have contributed to the work of the diocese and to encourage our youth to consider entering the priesthood and religious life. Throughout the year parishes will celebrate the Jubilee with a variety of activities but the highlight of the year will be a week of activities, from February 19 – 26, 2006 .
Coming: Saturday August 12 th - Catholics Can Cook A grand fun/family day for the entire diocese. Food prepared by all parishes will be on sale.
